There have been times when donations were requested during the forum program. Since the Maui forums are now bringing people together for the purpose of sharing and connecting, it seems appropriate to look at the purpose of money in the forum context. Money collected in forums could be used in one or more of the following ways.
- Pay for space if a room is rented for the program.
- Donated to the person providing his or her home for the program.
- Donated to the coordinator, music provider, facilitators, time keeper.
- Donated to the most needy in the group (for gas, food, shelter, etc.)
- Saved towards inviting a guest to Maui (Kelly Bryson, etc.)
- Used to pay royalties to people who originally started the forum technique or who did work to bring the Forum to Maui (Blaze, Sahajo, Kelly Bryson)
- Other uses??
With any money collected, the forum community is now left with the sticky issue of how to divide the funds among the above items or whom to designate to make the decisions.
How do we want to deal with money? Should Forums be free? How and when do we want to be involved with money? How should money decisions be made?
